UI Designer – IT-Online


One of South Africa’s banking giants is looking for a UI Designer to develop, evaluate, implement and influence world-class UI design for digital platforms while complying the fundamental principles of the Bank’s brand to optimize the customer experience.
Declaration of Intent :

  • Develop, assess, implement and influence world-class UX/UI design of user/customer experience for digital platforms while adhering to the Bank’s brand fundamentals to optimize customer experience.

  • Constantly improve the user experience through usability studies, help translate feature requirements into interactive and visual designs across platforms, and work closely with technology teams and user interface (UI) designers , and/or create.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and develop customer experience touchpoints in accordance with best practice standards and methodologies.

  • Conduct regular research (local and international), interviews and surveys to understand customer experience behaviors and trends.

  • Identify gaps or opportunities for change in the Bank’s digital landscape from a UX experience perspective.

  • Strive to perfect existing user interfaces by identifying areas for improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with design standards and specifications.

  • Make sure the digital product meets the customer’s needs.

  • Liaise and communicate with all delivery teams and relevant line of business stakeholders throughout the Agile product development lifecycle.

  • Provide regular feedback (verbal and written reports) to stakeholders on results to influence our digital touchpoints.

Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies.

  • Provide research findings to evaluate current designs and recommend new ideas and innovative ways to create concepts and design direction suitable for the future.

Promote UX/UI and brand standards.

  • Develop and maintain design quality standards to ensure a consistent yet simple/intuitive UX to be applied by stakeholders, e.g. customer experience and development teams for our digital touchpoints.

Optimize customer experience through customer interaction and data.

  • Coordinate and align design changes with stakeholders to ensure an appropriate yet consistent digital/brand experience across all Bank customer touchpoints (omnichannel).

  • Develop prototypes (static wireframes and interactive prototypes) to visualize sample concepts, tested by customers.

  • Evaluate the usability of the design with findings and recommendations from real user groups:

  • Analyze and monitor the performance of digital solutions in terms of adoption and use.

  • Identify and track benefits to maximize business and customer value.

  • Identify opportunities to improve the customer experience.

Support development teams in their delivery of digital products.

  • Action and contribution to the implementation of the project/task/improvements is timely, coordinated and design standards are met.

  • Design quality user experience touchpoints by supporting and collaborating with the delivery team across different delivery channels.

  • Present customer experience solutions and manage stakeholder expectations.

Job requirements:
Relevant certifications

Knowledge and experience:
Knowledge of:

  • Sketch, Figma or similar

  • Prototyping with InVision or similar

  • In-depth understanding of simplified user-centered design methodologies

  • Understanding of Google Material Design



  • At least 5 years of experience in user interface design for mobile devices and the web

  • At least 5 years of digital experience

  • Proficiency in Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD or something similar

  • Prototyping experience in InVision or similar

  • In-depth experience with user journeys and wire-framing

  • Experience with design patterns and standards

  • Experience in creating beautiful interfaces for mobile and web

  • A digital wallet and/or links to products involved in

  • Experience working with business stakeholders and developers


  • At least 2 years of experience in the financial sector

  • Strong creative background to support UI methodologies

  • Agile software development experience

  • Experience in usability testing

  • Portal and dashboard design experience to ensure the solution meets customer expectations

  • Analytical context

  • Passion for interaction design and animations
