Telegram for Android adds seamless UI and more – 9to5Google

Telegram is one of our favorite cross-platform messaging apps on Android, and it just keeps getting better with updates. Today, a new Telegram update makes downloads easier and finally brings the app’s seamless design to Android.

Rolling out now through the Play Store, Telegram adds a few key new updates in its latest release. For Android in particular, a notable change is that Telegram is finally adopting the semi-transparent design elements that have been on the iOS version for nearly a year, but it still only works in night mode. You will see this transparent effect mainly in the top bar of the Telegram Android app, as chat messages and your chat list scroll below this top bar.

In particular, like our Dylan Roussel Quickly discovered, this semi-transparent design is not supported on all devices. In its testing, the Pixel 6 Pro didn’t perform well, but it did for another Pixel 6 Pro owner. Your results may vary, as it looks like Telegram has a few bugs to iron out.

Coming to Telegram on other platforms as well as Android, however, is a new download manager. With this update, you will be able to see all ongoing downloads, adjust priority, stop downloads and delete old files as well. There is also a tweak to the attachments menu that allows users to adjust formatting before sending.

Telegram for Android also adopts a new smooth login flow with updated animations and designs. t.me links also extend to phone numbers (previously supported by userames) for easy access, and these links also receive updated web and in-app previews.
