The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is inspired by the peace initiatives of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to secure the nation and propel development, said the Chief of the Defense Staff (CDS), Deputy Admiral Seth Amoama.
He said that the mandate of the armed forces to protect the nation was linked to Asantehene’s program to use peace for development, because without security there could be no sustainable development.
CDS said so when he received the Otumfuo Commemorative Gold Coin at Burma Camp in Accra on Monday, February 21, 2022.
The impressive ceremony saw the top brass, as well as other officers and men of the armed forces.
A team from the E ON 3 group and its partners was at Burma Camp to present the play.
Vice Admiral Amoama said it was partly thanks to the work of the armed forces that the country had been ranked the most peaceful country in West Africa and the second most peaceful in sub-Saharan Africa only after Mauritius .
“Credit goes to the valiant soldiers who keep the country safe,” he said.
Vice Admiral Amoama dedicated the coin to officers and men. and civilian personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces who have worked in various ways to provide security to the country and protect water bodies and forest resources.
He said he was honored to have been chosen as one of the country’s eminent personalities to receive the minted 24-karat gold coin, adding that “and I will cherish this coin for life.”
Recognizing the immense role the Asantehene continues to play in national affairs, the CDS said Otumfuo’s extraordinary skills in conflict resolution had been positive for the peace enjoyed by the country.
In particular, he mentioned Otumfuo’s role in resolving the protracted chieftaincy dispute in Dagbon, which restored peace to the former traditional region.
Again, Vice Admiral Amoama noted that the progress made by the Otumfuo Education Fund was so egregious that it should be ignored.
He also said that His Majesty’s ascension to the Golden Stool has further enhanced the image of the Asante Kingdom and the country’s institution of chieftaincy.
The CDS said the new commemorative gold coin attests to the dignity and ingenuity of Otumfuo Osei Tutu.
“It is my fervent hope that Her Majesty’s efforts will result not only in the resolution of chieftaincy disputes, but also in addressing other societal ills such as illegal mining,” he said. he declares.
Recognizing the chieftaincy as an important institution in the country and the color that Otumfuo had added to the institution, the CDS expressed the hope that the king would continue to drive development across Asanteman and beyond.
Vice Admiral Amoama congratulated EON 3 Group and its partners for minting the coin to celebrate Otumfuo.
Encouraged by the E ON 3 Group’s plan to use proceeds from the sale of the coin to establish a state-of-the-art cultural resource center in Kumasi to serve as national heritage, the CDS has pledged GH¢50,000 for the project, an announcement which was greeted with enthusiastic applause from the congregation.
