New Perryville website focuses on filming in the area

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – A new website in Perryville promotes and shows why the city and county are ready for more movies there.

A new movie is already in production there using what the Perry County area has to offer.

The new website helps producers find the perfect location for the scenes they want to shoot.

“I think the goal is to get Perryville known,” Perryville City Administrator Brent Buerck said. “Perryville is a lot of different things to a lot of different people and movie friendly is just another of those things. We have great venues, really great people in town and it just lets the world know we’re out there and ready to work with them.

Local leaders say it’s a great filming location as the area offers plenty of work opportunities.

“We think this is a great filming opportunity because of all the versatility we have,” Perry County Heritage Trish Erzfeld said. “We can give you an 1870s log cabin or maybe an abandoned warehouse with a Hallmark-like downtown feel.”

They also work to train people interested in the film industry in front of and behind the camera.

“So one of the things the movie-friendly website does is for our region here, for anybody who wants to get involved in the movie industry,” Erzfeld said. “Maybe if you think you have talent and want to try acting, there are all kinds of different positions for that, as well as behind the camera. So if you want to try a production assistant or a site manager, there are several different positions for behind the camera.
