Crosswordle is the sudoku and crossword version of Wordle

Wordle didn’t stop in terms of popularity soon after acquiring The New York Times and spawned countless spin-offs. Crosswordle is one of these derivative versions of Wordle, and there are not one but two.

A crossword, by vercel, is an incredible cross between a guessing game and Sudoku. It allows you to reverse engineer the Wordle grid after providing the final answer. This is a very challenging, hard to solve and brain draining version of the beloved guessing game.

Another crossword, by serializer, is a witty cross between a guessing game and a cross puzzle. It asks you to solve a crossword puzzle by guessing two crossword puzzles in as few tries as possible.

These two Wordle alternatives have been trending lately as more and more people are turning to them. If you’ve started to feel that Wordle has gotten too easy for you, these games will give you a breath of fresh air.

Sudoku Version Crossword: What is it?

The first Crosswordle is Wordle’s Sudoku cross created by Reddit user u/ymichael with his wife. It’s like the reverse version of Wordle Hard Mode because it’s inspired by Josh Wardle original guessing game but uses the rules of its hard mode.

The ultimate goal is to guess and recreate a valid Wordle grid using the final answer provided and working on color-coded tile clues for guesses. It’s like someone mixed up the concept of Sudoku and messed up Wordle.

There is a new game to solve every day. Puzzles have four rows on weekdays and six on weekends. Apart from this, the game also offers an “Unlimited” mode which allows you to play the game as many times as you want with the number of lines you want.

There is also a “Builder” mode which allows you to create your own Wordle puzzle. You can choose the size of the puzzle, choose the final answer and check it to see if you created a valid one.

How to play Cross Sudoku?

Playing Crosswordle Sudoku is not as easy as it first seems. You can start playing the daily game by visiting this website on any web browser. When you visit, you will see an incomplete grid with only the last line filled in which contains the final solution.

You need to reverse engineer the Wordle grid based on the answer provided. There will be a number of error alerts that will help you stay on track. Additionally, there will be the usual green, yellow and gray colored tiles to signify correct, partially correct and wrong guesses.

Players can only use the letters available in the final solution while making guesses. If the tile turns green, you have guessed a column to the right. If the column turns yellow, one of the remaining letters must be used, and if the column turns gray, you are entering the wrong letter.

Error Alerts in Crosswordle Sudoku

Crosswordle offers a number of error alerts to keep you on the right path while solving the Sudoku puzzle. Wrong letters are marked with a red flag in the upper right corner of the tile. Here are the seven available error alerts:

You need to get these error alerts if you want to win Crosswordle Sudoku everyday. If you have understood them correctly, the game can actually become simple for you.

Crosswordle Crossword Puzzle Version: What is it?

Next Crosswordle is the combination of Wordle and a crossword game where you have to guess two words, one horizontal and one vertical, simultaneously, in as few tries as possible.

This game features two related mystery words every day and players have to think of them while working on the clues. The concept of word guessing and the rules remain the same as in Wordle.

It is created by Robert Flack, an Ontario-based software developer who works at Google on Chromium. He announced the game via Twitter where he wrote, “I wrote my own spin on wordle. Please be gentle and enjoy!

How to play Crosswordle crossword game?

Playing Robert Flack’s Crosswordle is easier than the version shared above, in my opinion. You can start the game by launching a web browser on your PC or smartphone and visiting this website.

You will now see a cross-shaped grid with four vertical and six horizontal columns. Your goal is to guess the two intersecting mystery words in as few guesses as possible. There is no limit to the number of attempts you are allowed to make. However, the fewer the better.

Both words must be composed of valid words. You can start the game with a random guess and the colors of the tiles will change depending on your input. A green colored tile represents the correct letter in the correct place while a yellow colored tile represents the correct letter in the wrong place.

While the gray color of the tile indicates that you have entered the wrong letter. You have to keep working on the clues to guess the two intersecting words. Once you’ve done that, you can share your score on Twitter or any other social media platform.
