Alumni a source of inspiration for new students: JP Nadda


Alumni of any institution are the source of inspiration for new students as their achievements and accomplishments set an example for all to emulate, BJP National Chairman and MP Jagat Prakash Nadda said on Sunday. addressing the “Alumni Meeting-2022” of the University of Himachal Pradesh.

Nadda said the alumni gathering is a unique opportunity to strengthen alumni’s bond with their alma mater, where they can share their memories, experiences and accomplishments.

“I also have very fond memories of my days as a student of this university, which started its journey with 11 departments and today it has 44 departments,” he said.

He said that spread over more than 245 bigha lands, this university was today considered one of the best universities in the country. He said it was his proud privilege to have also been part of the 53 years of glorious history of this university.

The BJP National President also remembered his teachers and fellow students and shared his experiences and memories at the University. “It is an arduous task to stand and perform on this University stage. This University is the pulse of state politics,” he said while sharing his experiences as a student leader with Rakesh Singha.

He said that the University taught him that self-existence was only possible with co-existence. He said he had the opportunity to work in several universities, but the University of Himachal Pradesh has its unique feature and character.

Nadda said the environment at the University of Himachal Pradesh is very conducive to study. “Apart from studies, the University also offered many opportunities in the field of sports, theater, politics, etc. Dedication, honesty and perseverance are the main components of success. To achieve success, one must be honest in one’s efforts and believe in unity. It becomes our duty to learn at university and give back to society,” he said.

The BJP National Chairman urged the students to set a goal and try to identify the hidden talent within them. “Talent must be used for the greater good of society. With honest efforts, no one can stop us from achieving success,” he said while informing the students that success can only be achieved through hard work and dedication.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, addressing the event, said student days were the best days of life. “I started my political career at Vallabh Degree College Mandi, and now I am representing my region for the fifth time,” he said.

He said Alumni Bhawan, the foundation stone of which was laid today, needs to be constructed appropriately so that it becomes not only a facility for former students, but also a treasure trove of old memories of the university era.

Thakur said that the University over the past 53 years has made great achievements and has been accredited as an ‘A’ grade university. This university is now committed to achieving the goal of an A+ grade. “The biggest challenge facing the University is to effectively implement the national education policy. The University also strives to achieve and excel in sports and other extracurricular activities,” he said.

Earlier, BJP National Chairman Jagat Prakash Nadda and Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the Alumni Building which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 8.95 crore. On this occasion, they also released a “Summerhill Panorama” souvenir and an “Alumni Web Portal”.

Padam Bhushan Award winner Anupam Kher said this small town of Shimla taught him to dream and dream big. While reminiscing nostalgically on his college days, he said whoever can dream can achieve and the only thing required is faith in oneself and respect for parents and the nation.
